Melody VR

Immersive worlds that blend mainstream music, AI and virtual reality to reduce anxiety — a research collaboration with Cardiff University and Universal Music Group.

A calming Melody VR landscape with ribbons of light

The challenge

When demand for mental-health support outstrips the services available, people need approaches that can work at scale. We asked a simple question: could mainstream music — something almost everyone already loves — be combined with virtual reality to measurably reduce anxiety?

Our approach

We built Melody VR, an immersive experience that blends Universal Music Group's catalogue of popular artists with calming, responsive virtual worlds and AI. It became the basis of a research collaboration with Cardiff University, studying how music and VR together affect symptoms of anxiety and help build resilience.

The outcome

The result is a unique, evidence-led tool that turns listening into an active, immersive intervention — with findings from the study being prepared for publication.

VR Melody is a unique opportunity to research how UMG popular artists and their music can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and build resilience.
