Augmented-reality models overlaid onto live locations, bringing a £1.25bn Electric Arc Furnace to life for customers, suppliers and press long before construction.
The challenge
Tata Steel UK wanted to create a wow moment while bringing an enormous, not-yet-built £1.25 billion Electric Arc Furnace to life — for customers, suppliers, politicians and the press, long before any of it became visible on site.
Our approach
We created augmented- and mixed-reality apps that overlay viewable 3D models onto the live locations. People can stand where the new furnace and surrounding infrastructure will be and see the plan in place, at full scale, in context.
The outcome
The experience gives a clear, immersive view of the project well in advance of construction, and has proven invaluable for showcasing the plans to a wide range of audiences.
